The PM takes questions at a Downing Street press conference; copyright: Reuters The Prime Minister has been taking questions from local, national and international journalists today in his regular press conference.

Mr Brown answered questions on his decision not to call a general election, Iraq, Royal Mail, public sector strikes and the Middle East.

The session, broadcast live from inside Number 10, usually lasts an hour and Mr Brown has no prior notification of the questions.

Mr Brown will later deliver a statement to Parliament outlining Britain’s strategic goals in Iraq.
