Prime Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie hosted a series of millennium lectures to mark the year 2000. The lectures covereda number of topics including the future of education, science and international affairs.
Announcing the lectures the Prime Minister said:
"On the eve of a new millennium, it is vital we debate the issues which will affect people’s lives. We must learn from those in the forefront of this debate so that we can prepare to face the challenges and grasp the opportunities of the 21st Century."
