The Prime Minister has re-appointed Samir Shah OBE and Betty Jackson CBE from 6 December 2008 as Trustees of the Victoria and Albert Museum for a period of four years.
Biographical Details
Samir Shah OBE has been a leading figure in Broadcasting for nearly thirty years. He began his career in broadcasting at LWT and, later, the BBC - where he is now a non-executive Director. He is CEO of Juniper Communications which specialises in making factual programmes and drama documentaries.
Betty Jackson CBE has been one of the countries leading clothes designers for over twenty years. During this time she has won numerous awards for her designs including “Separates Designer of the Year”, “British Designer of the Year” and “Contemporary designer of the Year”. She was awarded the M.B.E in 1987 for services to British Industry and Export, and in 2007 received the C.B.E. In 2008, she was elected to Council at the Royal College of Art.

1. The Victoria and Albert Museum houses collections of fine and applied art, craft and design. It includes the National Art Library, and the Trustees also manage the V&A Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green.
2. The posts are not remunerated. Reasonable expenses can be claimed.
3. These reappointments have been made in accordance with the OCPA Code of Practice. Neither Samir Shah nor Betty Jackson has been involved in any political activity in the past 5 years.
