Gordon Brown welcomes Polish PM to Downing Street

Gordon Brown and Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of Poland, in 10 Downing Street, 24 November 2008; Crown copyright.The PM has welcomed Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to 10 Downing Street for bilateral talks.

The two men discussed the aftermath of the G20 financial summit in Washington, DC and the need for a Europe-wide economic recovery plan that includes fiscal stimulus packages in individual nations.

Talks also covered the drive to agree a 2020 climate change package to succeed the Kyoto Protocol, the importance of EU unity in relations with Russia and the role of Poland in Afghanistan and the wider security strategy.

Mr Tusk was nominated Prime Minister of Poland in November 2007.¼/p>
