The Prime Minister has re-appointed Bonnie Greer and Francis Finlay as Trustees of the British Museum.
Biographical Details
Bonnie Greer is an Anglo-American playwright and author with many years experience working on both sides of the Atlantic.
In America, she studied playwriting with both David Mamet and the late Elia Kazan. She is the recipient of the du Nouy Prize in the US and the Verity Bargate Award in the UK, both for playwriting. Over a dozen of her plays have been produced for BBC Radio, and her stage plays have been produced at the Theatre Royal Stratford East and at The Arcola Theatre. She is a Trustee of the Serpentine Gallery; a member of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts Artistic Board and Academic Board; an Associate Artist at Theatre Royal, Stratford East; a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts; and a member of the Franco British Council. She is a frequenter contributor to television, radio and newspapers.
Francis Finlay is non-executive Chairman of Clay Finlay LLC, a New York-based institutional investment management firm with offices in Europe and Asia. Prior to co-founding the firm in 1982, Francis held senior international investment management positions at Morgan Guaranty Trust in New York and Lazard Freres in New York and previously Paris, and was a member of the Investment Policy Committees of both institutions. He is a Director of a number of investment companies and a member of the Oxford University Investment Committee. Educated at Oxford University, where he is an Honorary Fellow of Merton College and a member of the Chancellor’s Court of Benefactors, Francis also served as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Business 1981-1986. He is currently a Governor of the London Business School and of the Ditchley Foundation, Chairman of the James Martin 21st Century Foundation, Co-Chairman of the EastWest Institute in New York, a Trustee of the Institute for Strategic Dialogue and a member of several international advisory boards. Francis is Chairman of the American Friends of the British Museum.

1. The British Museum holds in trust for the nation and the world a collection of art and antiquities from ancient and living cultures. Housed in one of Britain’s architectural landmarks, the collection is one of the finest in existence, spanning two million years of human history. The Board of Trustees of the British Museum has statutory duties under the British Museum Act 1963 and Museums and Galleries Act 1992 for the general management and control of the Museum and for the appointment of the director.
2. The posts are not remunerated. Reasonable expenses can be claimed.
3. These reappointments have been made in accordance with the OCPA Code of Practice. Neither candidate has undertaken any significant political activity during the past 5 years.
