The Queen has approved the nomination of the Reverend Canon Paul Gavin Williams, BA, to the Suffragan See of Kensington, in the Diocese of London, in succession to the Right Reverend Michael John Colclough, BA, on his translation to the Canonry of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Paul Williams (aged 40) studied at Grey College, Durham and trained for the ordained ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He served his title at St James Muswell Hill in the London diocese from 1992 to 1995 and then as Associate Vicar at Christ Church Clifton, Bristol Diocese from 1995 to 1999. He has been Rector of St James Gerrards Cross and Fulmer since 1999, and an Honorary Canon of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford since 2007.
He is married to Sarah, who is primary school teacher and presently a full-time mother and they have three boys, aged 5, 8 and 9. As well as leading a large church in the Oxford diocese, Paul has made a wider contribution in the areas of leadership development, church growth and the church’s ministry among children. He is an enthusiastic about all sport, especially football and sailing, is a keen fell-walker, and enjoys English choral music.
