Gordon Brown has called upon the international community to build on the United Nations resolution on Gaza that was agreed in New York last night.
Speaking during his three-day regional tour of the UK, the PM said it was imperative to move forward in two key areas: agreeing in detail how best to deal with the issue of arms smuggling into Gaza and establishing an open and secure border under international supervision.
The UK-drafted resolution calls for an “immediate, durable and fully respected ceasefire” and “the unimpeded provision and distribution throughout Gaza of humanitarian assistance”.
