The Prime Minister has today appointed Mr Bill Woodrow RA as a Trustee of the Board of the Imperial War Museum for a period of four years.

Biographical Notes

Bill Woodrow is a distinguished artist and sculptor, with an international reputation. His work has been displayed in exhibitions in the UK, Europe, Australia, USA and Canada. He recently displayed work include Regardless of History, for the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. He is a former trustee of the Tate Gallery. He has not undertaken any significant political activity in the past five years.

Notes to Editors

The Imperial War Museum was founded in 1917 to "record the story of the Great War" and was set up under the Imperial War Museum Acts of 1920 and 1925. Its remit was later extended to cover the Second World War and further expanded to all military operations involving British or Commonwealth forces since August 1914. Trustees of the Imperial War Museum are not remunerated.
