The Prime Minister has re-appointed Sir Christopher Mallaby GCMG GCVO as a Trustee of the Tate Gallery with effect from 24 October 2001 until 31 March 2004.
Biographical Notes
Sir Christopher Mallaby was appointed to the Tate Gallery in 1996 and has served for one term. A former diplomat, he was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Germany from 1988 to 1992 and to France between 1993 to 1996 and previously served in Moscow, New York, Berlin and Bonn. He was also Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet from 1985 to 1988. Sir Christopher is now a Managing Director at UBS Warburg and a non-executive Director of Charter European Investment, EDF Trading and Vodafone Mannesmann. He holds no other public appointments and has not undertaken any political activity in the last five years.

The Tate Gallery houses the national collection of British paintings, the Turner Bequest and 20th - century paintings and sculptures. The Tate Gallery comprises Tate Britain at Millbank and Tate Modern at Bankside in London, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives. Trustees of the Tate Gallery are not remunerated.
