Strategy Forum
The Strategy Forum was established in May 2004 in response to the increasing emphasis on the importance of strategy in government - both in terms of the quality of strategy development in departments and the level of strategic capability in senior civil servants. As part of this trend, each department now has a strategy unit of its own and senior level Strategy Directors are being appointed in most departments.
The Strategy Forum brings together Strategy Directors (or the Board member responsible for strategy where not appointed) from Whitehall and the Devolved Administrations in a safe environment so that they can address cross-cutting strategic issues, share experiences and challenges they are facing, and consider action needed to build strategic capability across government.
