Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell will today visit staff behind the London 2012 bid to thank them for their hard work so far.
Her trip comes after the IOC published its latest evaluation report on the Games bids, praising London for a ‘very high quality’ presentation.
The Games would be a ‘catalyst’ for the regeneration and development of London’s Lower Lea Valley site, the report states, providing ’significant’ sports and environment legacies.
Transport and accommodation needs will be met and London’s budget forecasts are ‘detailed, well-supported and achievable.’
And the commission add that the presentation offered to them during their visit to London in February was of a ‘very high quality.’
The report is a technical analysis of the five candidate cities, and is sent to the IOC members ahead of the vote later this year.
London’s bid chairman Lord Coe welcomed the report:
"We are delighted. From our initial observations a lot of hard work has paid off."
