Tony Blair put his name on the line today for success in London’s Olympic Bid by signing a flag outside 10 Downing Street.
Bid organiser and former Olympian Lord Coe, and pupils from a specialist sports academy in the capital’s East End, joined the Prime Minister at the signing.
Sporting heroes, celebrities and soap stars have already signed the banner which will accompany England football captain David Beckham to the final judging round in Singapore.
Mr Blair described the bid as "fantastic".
"Seb and his team have done an amazing job.
"It is generating such enthusiasm, inspiring the young people and will leave a tremendous legacy, not just for Britain but for the Olympic movement."
Lord Coe was upbeat about his recent trip to lobby Olympic officials in Africa.
He said:
"The message in Africa went down particularly well, given the close ties with this city and this country."
