Look back at the PM’s week

Here we reflect on some of the main business carried out by Tony Blair this week.

This week saw the launch of the Respect Action Plan aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour, the sad death of two Parliamentary colleagues and a busy PMQs.

Man of the People

Prime Minister Tony BlairOn Monday Tony Blair paid tribute to his former colleague Tony Banks who died from a massive stroke while on holiday in the United States. The Prime Minister said Lord Stratford was "one of the most charismatic politicians in Britain, a true man of the people".

The PM sent a message for Eid al-Adha. Sending his best wishes to the Muslim community commemorating the devotion of the prophet Abraham, he said it was a time to "relect on the extraordinary contribution of Islam".

It’s all about Respect

Prime Minister Tony BlairOn Tuesday the Prime Minister launched the government’s action plan to tackle low-level anti-social behaviour. With £28 million of new funding, Respect includes proposals aimed at detering bad behaviour while investing in good behaviour. Read the Respect Action Plan

As part of the action plan, the Government will tackle poor parenting which it sees as one of the root causes of anti-social behaviour.

Prime Minister cleans up

Tony Blair has a go at removing graffiti from a wall in SwindonThe PM took matters into his own hands as he helped clean up graffiti on an estate in Swindon then met residents to hear about the anti-social behaviour problems they face in their community. Busy PMQ’s

Prime Minister Tony Blair in ParliamentOn Wednesday Mr Blair faced his weekly round of questions in the House of Commons. During this week’s PMQ’s, the PM paid tribute to MP Rachel Squire and former sports minister Tony Banks, who both died recently.
