The Belgian Prime Minister has visited Downing Street to hold talks with Gordon Brown about European and international affairs.

“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to ensure that the UK follows a middle-east foreign policy in British, not Israeli, interests.”

Gordon Brown has insisted that all parties to the Middle East dispute over Palestine must be brought together to thrash out a lasting peace settlement despite the recent hostilities in Gaza.

Small businesses, VAT cuts and the New Opportunities White Paper were on the agenda at today’s PMQs.

Gordon Brown has held talks in Downing Street with Israeli PM Ehud Olmert on the Middle East peace process.

“My Government will press for a comprehensive peace settlement in the Middle East, for continued progress in Iraq and for effective measures to address concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme.”
