PM Direct in Newquay
Prime Minister David Cameron answered questions from Cornwall residents today after travelling to the county to host his latest PM Direct Q&A session.
Topics under discussion at the event in Newquay included pensions, housing, the NHS, employment and foreign aid.
Responding to a question about community engagement, the PM said the “real room” for engagement “should be at a more local level”.
The Q&A, which was organised in partnership with local radio station Pirate FM, follows Mr Cameron’s first PM Direct event in Leeds last week after the regional Cabinet meeting in Bradford.
Today’s event was one of several the PM took part in as he visited Cornwall. Earlier, he held a meeting with business leaders, public sector representatives and voluntary sector workers in Truro where he discussed issues facing the local community.
He also visited a junior school in Newquay, following a submission to the public sector Spending Review by the school’s head teacher.
