Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire appointment

Helen Nellis appointed as Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for the County of Bedfordshire.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Helen Nellis as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the County of Bedfordshire to succeed Sir Samuel Whitbread KCVO when he retires on 22 February 2012.

Helen Nellis is an international senior executive search professional with a legal and academic background and has extensive experience working with the public, charity and private sectors.  She will join Harvey Nash Plc in the new year.  She has held several public appointments throughout Bedfordshire including: Chairman of Bedfordshire Health Authority, Chairman of Bedford Hospitals NHS Trust, Chairman of Luton Health Action Zone and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University of Bedfordshire. She is also a Trustee of the Bedford Hospitals Charity.

She has lived in Bedfordshire for nearly thirty years and is married to Professor Joe Nellis of Cranfield University and they have three children.
