Press briefing - afternoon 13 December 2012

The Prime Minister's Spokesperson (PMS) answered questions on Culture Secretary, Maria Miller.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Questioned about the investigation into the Culture Secretary’s expenses, the PMS referred to a media interview the PM had just given where he said he believed the Culture Secretary was doing a good job and had provided answers to the questions put to her on the issue. If further questions needed to be answered they would be.

The investigation itself was a matter for the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner, but the Government had taken big steps to establish transparency and had set up IPSA in the wake of previous expenses issues.

Asked about the conduct of Government advisers, the PMS said that advisers had contacted the newspaper in question to raise specific concerns about the conduct of investigations.
