Suffragan Bishop of Doncaster
The Queen has approved the nomination of the Venerable Peter Burrows to the Suffragan See of Doncaster in the Diocese of Sheffield.
The Queen has approved the nomination of the Venerable Peter Burrows, BTh, Archdeacon of Leeds in the Diocese of Ripon and Leeds, to the Suffragan See of Doncaster in the Diocese of Sheffield, in succession to the Right Reverend Cyril Guy Ashton, MA, on his resignation on 31 August 2011.

The Venerable Peter Burrows (aged 56) trained for the ministry at Sarum and Wells Theological College. He served his Curacy at Baildon in Bradford diocese from 1983 to 1987. From 1987 to 1995 he was first Rector at Broughton Astley in the diocese of Leicester and from 1995 to 2000 he was Team Rector at Broughton Astley and Croft with Stoney Stanton. He was Rural Dean at Guthlaxton from 1994 to 2000. From 1997 to 2003 he was also Diocesan Director of Ordinands and from 2000 to 2003 he was Parish Development Officer. From 2003 to 2005 he was Director of Ministry, Training and Parish Development in the diocese of Leicester. From 1998 to 2005 he was Honorary Canon of Leicester Cathedral. Since 2005 he has been Archdeacon of Leeds where he has had a particular focus on engagement with new communities and the development of Pioneer ministries, academies and free school projects. He also continued to oversee all areas of ministerial development and training.
He is married to Jane and they have two adult children, Adam and Arnie.
The Venerable Peter Burrow’s interests include the Church in Argentina and Sri Lanka, cooking and hospitality, and all forms of motor sport, in particular Formula One.
