PM meets Battle of Britain veterans
Prime Minister David Cameron has met Battle of Britain veterans at the start of a week of events commemorating and celebrating their bravery.
Mr Cameron met the former pilots as he visited a full size replica of a Spitfire Mk 1 which has been moved to Whitehall for the week to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
He was joined by Defence Secretary Dr Liam Fox, Veterans Minister Andrew Robathan and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton.
A number of other events will be taking place during the week to mark the anniversary, including the unveiling of the memorial to Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park, who commanded the pilots responsible for the protection of London and the south east.
On Sunday a commemorative service will be held at Westminster Abbey followed by a parade around Westminster and a flypast by the RAF.
