PM joins Scouts for nourishing nosh

20 April 2007

Tony Blair tucked into a hotdog for lunch while in the north-east today - after cooking the tasty treat himself on a Scout campfire.

The PM joined beavers, cubs and scouts for a celebration of the centenary of the Scout Association.

After a quick tour of the campsite, Mr Blair stopped for a spot of Scout-style lunch.

As he knelt over a campfire and his Cumberland sausages sizzled in a frying pan, he spoke to cubs and leaders from the 2nd Bishop Auckland Scout Group. With a pair of barbecue tongs in his hand, Mr Blair joked: "I am the world's worst chef!"

Earlier in the day, the PM joined the International Power Group at their announcement that they will create a "significant number of jobs" for the north-east of England.
