The Queen has approved the nomination of the Right Reverend John Geoffrey Inge, BSc, MA, PhD, Suffragan Bishop of Huntingdon, for election as Bishop of Worcester in succession to the Right Reverend Peter Stephen Maurice Selby MA, BD, PhD who resigns on 30 September 2007.

John Inge (aged 52) was educated at St Chad’s College, Durham, and trained for ordination at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield. From 1984 to 1986 he was Assistant Chaplain at Lancing College. He was Junior Chaplain at Harrow School from 1986 to 1989 and Senior Chaplain from 1989 to 1990. From 1990 to 1996 he was Vicar of Wallsend, St Luke. He was Canon Residentary of Ely Cathedral from 1996 to 2003 and also Vice Dean from 1999 to 2003. He has been Suffragan Bishop of Huntingdon since 2003. He has been a Trustee of Common Purpose since 2005.
He is author of "A Christian Theology of Place" 2003 and of "Living Love: In Conversation with the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency Series" 2007. He is also the author of a number of articles.
John Inge is married to Denise and they have two young daughters. He enjoys reading, drama, music and travelling and has an interest in international issues.
