Lord-Lieutenant for Bristol

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Mrs Mary Prior MBE as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Bristol as from 16 September upon the retirement of Jay Tidmarsh Esq MBE.

Biographical Notes

Mrs Mary Prior (aged 65) was a Director of Alexandra plc, an international supplier of workwear and uniforms and she is a partner in a working farm.

Mrs Prior is a Trustee of Quartet Community Foundation and Chairman of the North Somerset Committee, a Trustee of St Monica Trust and Patron of Bristol Cathedral Trust (past Vice-Chairman of the Trust and Chairman of the Executive). She has served as a member of the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Committee, a director of Bristol Chamber of Commerce and Initiative, a member of the University of the West of England Business School Advisory Board, a member of the BBC Radio Bristol Advisory Board and as a member of the British Olympics Appeal Bristol Committee.

Mrs Prior has been a Deputy Lieutenant since 1996. She is married to John and has two adult children.
