Prime Minister appoints board member of Kennedy Memorial Trust

The Prime Minister has appointed Dr Peter Englander as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kennedy Memorial Trust for a period of five years from 15 August 2007. 

Biographical Note:

Dr Englander graduated in Chemical Engineering from Manchester University.  He won a Kennedy Scholarship to the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  He subsequently obtained a PhD from London University in the area of technological innovation.  He worked for Air Products and then for the Boston Consulting Group before joining Apax Partners in 1981, when the first UK fund was raised.  Dr Englander is a member of the Investment Committee at Apax Partners.  He is Chief Executive of the Apax Charitable Foundation.

Dr Englander is currently Chair of the Finance Committee of the Kennedy Memorial Trust.  He is also a member of the Bridges Community Ventures Board of the Combined London Colleges University General Partner Board.

Dr Englander is married with three children.

Notes for Editor:

The Kennedy Memorial Trust was established in 1966 to administer monies raised in the United Kingdom as a tribute to the late President John Kennedy. Part of the fund was used to create and maintain the Kennedy Memorial site at Runnymede. The remaining capital is used to provide Kennedy Scholarships which enable British post-graduate students to study at Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
