Gordon Brown praises talent winner
14 December 2007
Gordon Brown has welcomed Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts to Number 10 and thanked him for being a "great ambassador for the country".
In a special meeting aired as part of the ITV special Paul Potts: By Royal Command, the PM heard how Mr Potts' entry into the contest was determined by the toss of a coin. The opera-singing Welshman has now sold more than two million albums and been number one in more than 15 countries.
The Prime Minister told Mr Potts and show host Simon Cowell that Britain's Got Talent showed how important it was to unlock hidden ability across the nation. He presented Mr Potts with a commemorative picture celebrating his musical success.
