Sir Stanley Burnton appointed as Lord Justice of Appeal

The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Honourable Mr Justice Stanley Burnton be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal following the death of Lord Justice Nicholas Pumfrey on 24 December 2007.

Biographical Note

The Honourable Mr Justice Stanley Burnton (65) was called to the Bar, by the Middle Temple, in 1965 and was made a Bencher in 1991. He was appointed as a QC in 1982, and was a Recorder from 1994 to 2000. He became a Judge of the High Court of Justice, Queen's Bench division in 2000.

Mr Justice Burnton was knighted in 2000.
