Lord-Lieutenant for South Yorkshire

The Queen has appointed Mr David Moody as Lord-Lieutenant for South Yorkshire following the retirement of Lord Scarbrough. The appointment will take effect immediately after Mr Moody’s retirement as High Sheriff on 6th April.

Biographical Notes

David Moody (63) lives in Barnsley where he was born and bred, and has spent most of his working life in the Sheffield special steels industry, first with United Steels and later as Chairman and Managing Director of Spartan Sheffield Limited. He is now involved in local regeneration as Chairman of the South Yorkshire Investment Fund and of J Shipman Properties Limited, and is a Sloan Fellow of the London Business School.

Mr Moody is a Governor and past Chairman of Governors of both Worksop College and Ranby House School, and is Chairman of Trustees of the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School Endowment Trust. He is a member of council of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a past President and Director.

David Moody is married to Sue, who is a magistrate, and they have four grown up children.
