Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland

Following the appointment of the Right Honourable Sir Brian Kerr as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, Her Majesty The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Honourable Mr Justice Morgan be appointed Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland with effect from 3 July 2009.

The Government has today created a new Department for Business, Innovation and Skills whose key role will be to build Britain’s capabilities to compete in the global economy. The Department will be created by merging BERR and DIUS.

Re-appointment of Surveillance Commissioners

The Prime Minister has approved the re-appointment of The Right Honourable Sir Christopher Rose as Chief Surveillance Commissioner and The Right Honourable Sir Charles Mantell as a Surveillance Commissioner for a further term of three years from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2012. He has also approved the appointment of The Right Honourable Sir William Gage as a Surveillance Commissioner with effect from 1 September 2009 to 31 August 2012.
